Investing for Impact is by invitation-only. Invitations are sent to top MBA programs that are also highly regarded for their strong sustainability and entrepreneurship focus. If you have received an invitation, registration will open on November 27, 2017.
The individual schools are responsible for forming their team of five current MBA students. Teams may bring along an advisor, although once the competition begins, advisors will not be allowed to interact with their team. Please take a moment to read the event’s Rules and Regulations.
Cost to Compete
The registration fee per team is $350. Meals will be provided during the competition (breakfast, lunch and happy hour).
Before the Competition
On Monday prior to the competition, each participating team will be emailed the real business plans of sustainably-minded entrepreneurs that are currently seeking funding. Teams will have the opportunity to become familiar with the business plans, conduct initial due diligence, and make preliminary assessments prior to arriving in Chapel Hill.
On Friday morning, all participants will gather for breakfast and an opening reception. The reception will be followed by startup pitches. Each team will then conduct a private interview with each entrepreneur.
After the due diligence sessions, teams will return to their rooms to finish their research and written deliverables.
Following lunch, each team will meet with the judges to explain their investment decisions.
